Continuous Fryer Rental for Fried Green Peas | Rapid Deployment to Minimize Production Downtime(Thailand)
Continuous fryer rental helped bridge production during a new fryer's manufacturing lead time.
When critical cooking or thermal processing equipment unexpectedly breaks down, while replacement equipment still requires several months to manufacture, how can a food manufacturer minimize production downtime and reduce the impact on output and operations?
A leading Thai manufacturer of bean-based snacks, producing green peas, peanuts, cashews, broad beans, rice crackers, and other snack products, faced exactly this challenge. After years of continuous operation, its existing continuous frying system experienced a major equipment failure, putting the entire frying line at risk of an extended shutdown. Although the manufacturer had already decided to invest in a new fryer, the new equipment would still require several months for manufacturing and delivery.
To minimize production downtime, Tsung Hsing / TSHS provided a FRYIN-402 Multi-Purpose Continuous Fryer rental solution as a temporary production bridge while the new fryer was being manufactured. From rental agreement confirmation to completed on-site installation, the entire process took approximately 2–3 weeks, enabling the manufacturer to quickly resume fried green pea production and maintain production capacity while waiting for its new equipment.
A 17-Year-Old Fryer That Laid the Foundation for a Long-Term Partnership
The partnership between Tsung Hsing / TSHS and the customer dates back more than a decade. The customer was first introduced to TSHS through a local partner and installed its first FRYIN-402 Continuous Fryer. The fryer remained in operation at the customer’s facility for approximately 17 years, serving as a key part of the frying process for nuts, beans, and other snack products.
After years of continuous operation, the original heating system began to show signs of aging, resulting in reduced combustion efficiency. When the customer reconnected with TSHS, our after-sales service and technical engineering team first assisted with refurbishing the fryer’s heating furnace, helping restore the existing equipment to operational condition. During this period, TSHS also continued to share updated heating technologies and frying process insights for products such as green peas.
However, in April–May 2026, the existing fryer experienced another major failure, preventing the frying line from operating normally. With the aging equipment no longer able to reliably support production, the customer decided to replace the original system and purchase a second continuous fryer from TSHS.
Production Challenge: Long Lead Time for a New Fryer
For food manufacturers, a failure of critical frying equipment is more than a maintenance issue—it can directly disrupt order fulfillment, production schedules, and delivery commitments. When the customer’s existing fryer failed, a new continuous frying system had already been ordered. However, manufacturing, testing, and delivery of the new equipment would take several months, leaving the factory at risk of an extended production gap despite having a replacement plan in place.
Under the customer's actual operating conditions, fried green pea production capacity was approximately 150 kg/hr. Based on an 8-hour production day, this represented around 1.2 metric tons per day, or approximately 26–30 metric tons per month based on 22–25 operating days. If production remained suspended for five months while waiting for the new fryer, approximately 130–150 metric tons of potential production output could be affected.
The key challenge, therefore, was not simply purchasing a new fryer. It was finding a continuous fryer that could meet the existing fried green pea production requirements and be deployed quickly, allowing the manufacturer to bridge the gap until the new equipment was ready while minimizing production downtime.
Fryer Rental to Bridge Production
Given the customer's urgent production needs, Tsung Hsing / TSHS reviewed its available equipment and identified a FRYIN-402 Multi-Purpose Continuous Fryer that could meet the customer’s fried green pea production requirements. TSHS therefore proposed a transitional solution: resume production with a rental fryer while the new fryer was being manufactured in parallel. Instead of waiting several months for the new equipment to be completed, the customer could use the rental fryer to bridge the production gap and keep the frying line running.
The rental period was planned for five months. For food manufacturers, equipment rental can offer more than a way to reduce upfront capital investment. It can also serve as a flexible production solution for unexpected equipment breakdowns, temporary capacity requirements, or production gaps caused by new equipment lead times.
Green Pea Frying Trial Before Rental
From the customer's initial request in May 2026 to the confirmation and signing of the fryer rental agreement, the entire process was completed within one month. Even for a short-term equipment rental, verifying that the fryer can accommodate the product characteristics and actual processing requirements is essential before installation. Before shipping the rental fryer, the TSHS Thailand team invited the customer to bring their own green peas to the facility for a frying trial. The trial allowed both teams to verify the fryer's operation, production performance, and actual frying results using the customer's own product. Once the equipment performance and fried green pea quality were confirmed to meet the customer's requirements, TSHS proceeded with shipment and on-site installation.
Installed in 3 Weeks to Resume Production
One of the biggest challenges in this project was time. From order confirmation to the completion of the rental fryer installation, the entire process took approximately three weeks. After equipment positioning, installation, and testing were completed, the fryer was officially put into operation in July 2026, enabling the customer to resume fried green pea production and bridge the production gap.
Rather than simply delivering the rental equipment to the customer’s factory, this project required a more comprehensive turnkey installation approach. In addition to providing the continuous fryer rental, the TSHS after-sales service and technical team coordinated the removal of the existing fryer, equipment move-in and positioning, partial facility modifications, exhaust stack installation, electrical work, and gas piping. By integrating the on-site installation and related engineering work, Tsung Hsing / TSHS reduced the customer’s need to coordinate multiple contractors and helped accelerate the installation process, allowing the rental fryer to be commissioned and put into production as quickly as possible.
Fryer Rental & Product Testing in Thailand
Food manufacturers do not always need new equipment solely for a new production line. Some may be dealing with an unexpected equipment breakdown, while others need additional capacity to fulfill short-term orders. Manufacturers developing new products may also want to validate market demand or actual processing results before committing to a major equipment investment. Compared with purchasing new equipment immediately, continuous fryer rental offers a more flexible approach to equipment deployment and production planning.
The TSHS Thailand service center provides fryer testing and rental services based on available equipment and each customer’s processing requirements. Before entering into a rental agreement, customers can conduct product trials using their own ingredients and test different conveyor belt configurations according to product characteristics. Beyond frying trials, products that require downstream processing can also be tested through frying, de-oiling, and seasoning processes, subject to equipment availability. This allows manufacturers to evaluate actual product results across multiple processing stages before determining the most suitable equipment configuration and production method.
For food manufacturers evaluating new product development, market trials, new investment projects, short-term capacity expansion, or an emergency replacement for an existing fryer, a "test first, rent next, and evaluate equipment purchase afterward" approach provides greater flexibility in production planning and capital investment decisions.
